My wife and I ate here for a date. For a bar, the food was really good. I had the breakfast burger with a side bowl of mixed fruit, huddle poppers, and deep-fried avocado. My wife had the Swiss mushroom burger with fresh chips. We tried the mimosa sampler, I had the blue Kamakazi, and my wife had the pineapple jalapeno margarita.
Great place with very good food and friendly staff. Shrimp tacos were delicious! Shrimp sandwich (po boy) was also so good. We had tortilla chips with salsa and queso and it all tasted amazing. Probably the best tortilla chips I’ve had in a while. Drinks were very good as well. Definitely recommend this place.
This was our first visit to JJ’s. I’m always a little nervous when trying a new restaurant as you never know what you’re getting into. We were greeted and seated within a minute of arrival by Heather who was also our server. She took great care of us. We ordered the New York Strip with shrimp and roasted potatoes and eggs with seasoned potatoes and fresh fruit. The steak was cooked just right and everything tasted so good.
We ate dinner here last night for the first time and we were so pleased! I have gluten allergy and the food was 10/10! I have no reaction the next day and can’t wait to go back! The service was great! I’m unsure of our waitress name but our check stated Rayleigh was our cashier. I spilled a drink and she was so kind about it. She answered all my questions and never acted like it was an issue. We are very excited to have found JJ’s!
I decided to try JJ's Sports Bar and Grill and was completely amazed!!! I tried their fried sushi, which is a roll lightly battered in Tempura. then fried for a crunchy and tasty twist, then topped with a tasty sauce. So good! It's totally not what I expected from sleepy Mt. Vernon, IL. Their menu has a rather large variety of burgers and brunch options as well as Mexican style meals. Great beer selection as well. Enjoy and drive safely!!!
An unexpected delight! Great place to stop and catch a game, a drink or two, and a great meal. We had Salmon, a Mushroom and Swiss, and the Chicken potato soup, it was all fantastic! Our server Ethan knocked it out of the park! He was funny, attentive, and made sure we had all we needed! Thanks for a great meal! We will be back!
Heard good things about this place. Tried it out, had grilled shrimp tacos and wife had a burger. Holy cow was this place the real deal. Service is friendly and prompt, food is on point. Coming back for brunch. So came back for brunch, again, again, and AGAIN. Good golly do these beautiful people know how to make you smile. Birria menu is off the charts!!!!! People this place is going to make you smile, get here and try it.
Today was our first experience here, and we were delighted. Our daughter has a soybean allergy which makes eating out at restaurants very difficult. Our waitress was patient, called others to obtain correct allergy information, discussed that information with the kitchen staff. She went above and beyond, all with a smile on her face. I wish I could remember her name. She made our entire experience a wonderful one and we are grateful!!!
